What are the documented side effects of BPC-157?
In rodent studies BPC-157 is consistently described as well-tolerated with low acute toxicity, and scattered user reports mention transient injection-site reactions, nausea, or headache. But there is no controlled human safety study that systematically captured these. The documented safety profile is essentially an animal profile.
Is BPC-157 proven safe for humans?
No. Claiming BPC-157 is safe overstates the data. What is established is low acute toxicity in rats and mice. In humans there is one small open-label pilot (Chang et al. 2014, n=12, oral) that was not designed to detect rare or long-term adverse effects. Absence of reported harm in a tiny, short study is not proof of safety.
Does BPC-157 cause cancer?
There is no human evidence that BPC-157 causes or accelerates cancer, and no human evidence ruling it out. The theoretical concern arises because BPC-157's proposed mechanism includes angiogenesis, and any pro-angiogenic agent raises questions about its effect on existing tumor vasculature. PepVise treats this as an open mechanistic question the absent long-term human data cannot answer.
Could side effects come from the product rather than the peptide?
Yes, and this is underappreciated. Research-chemical peptides sold for non-human use carry no pharmaceutical-manufacturing oversight and can contain endotoxin, residual solvents, or incorrect content. An adverse reaction may reflect a contaminant rather than BPC-157 itself, a variable the published literature does not capture.
Why does PepVise not give a dose in a side-effects post?
